DNA or Deoxyribose nucleic acid is a long polymer of nucleotides (cytosine, guanine, adenine, and thymine) that usually takes the form of a double helix. DNA carries genetic information, which determines the behaviour of cells in living organisms. DNA is responsible for the transmission of inherited traits between parents and their offspring.
