Industries working in tough environments need hardware that can withstand the elements. Panasonic's Lightweight Portable Wireless Displays branded Toughbook, combine cutting-edge technology with robust design.

Panasonic Portable Lightweight Rugged Displays

For use in the health-care sector, IT products like computers and laptops need one all-important quality: reliability. In hospitals, it is essential that medical staff can rely on technical equipment at all times. This is where Panasonic’s Toughbook Portable Lightweight Rugged Displays and products come into action: doctors, nurses and paramedics in hospitals or emergency call centres can keep these solid laptops at their side for reliable support at any time and in any place. Both medical staff and patients put a great deal of trust in these handheld computers, and to live up to this trust Panasonic has been continually developing the successful Toughbook product line for over 11 years.

Rugged Medical Display/Laptops, The CF-25 Toughbook

The first fully ‘ruggedised’ Toughbook, the CF-25 Rugged Medical Display/Laptop, made a splash back in 1996 with its special protection of vital components from falls, dirt and moisture, the typical magnesium casing and solid handle. Ever since, we have been developing, crafting and certifying Toughbooks in our company laboratories in Osaka and in the Panasonic laptop factory in Kobe, Japan. Country-specific configuration and final assembly take place in the Panasonic Computer Products Europe Centre in Cardiff, Wales. Here a team of engineers expertly adapt the computers to the various markets and requirements. This is how Panasonic guarantees the high quality of its products and services, which is particularly important to us as market leader.

Hospital Wireless Displays/Laptops - CF-T4 Toughbook

Various institutions in the health care sector already trust in the advantages of the Panasonic Wireless Displays and Laptops the CF-T4 Toughbook. The Oldenburg health clinic and Paderborn Rescue Coordination Centre in Germany, Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Dublin and the NHS hospital in Derby are examples of medical centres which use the Toughbooks. They have already been successfully incorporated into the day-to-day running of these hospitals. They support medical staff with patient administration and in particular offer a digital solution to medical records. For example, the head doctor at the Oldenburg clinic takes the CF-T4 on his morning tour of the wards: he can sit with patients and record medical data straight onto computer, make adjustments to medication or book them in for surgery. This way of managing medical records on an individual basis is being increasingly adopted, as it bypasses copious paper work which can otherwise waste a lot of doctors’ and nurses’ time. Moreover, switching over to electronic records will in the long run lead to a reduced risk of error in diagnosis and prescription.

The Rugged Wireless Toughbook CF-08

These advantages are also used in the Adelaide and Meath hospital in Ireland, where they rely on the Rugged Wireless Toughbook Display CF-08 for more effective, better-quality management of sensitive patient data. As in Oldenburg, data can be gathered at the patient’s bedside, entered securely and easily on the touch-screen and subsequently downloaded anywhere in the hospital through the wireless LAN network– all Toughbook models have antennae fitted into the screen-case for optimal WLAN reception at data transfer rates of up to 54 Megabits/s.

Toughbook meets IP54, MIL-810F and MIL-STD-461E Standards

The Panasonic Toughbooks also score points in situations where everything has to be ‘clinically clean’. Even cleaning the laptops with disinfectant after contact with body liquids cannot harm them. All connections like the USB-port, SD card drive, loudspeakers and even the microphone jack have been specially sealed against damp and dirt. Hence the laptops are perfect for everyday use in hospitals and laboratories. Standardised according to IP54, MIL-810F and MIL-STD-461E norms, they are resistant to spray, dust, spills and even falls of up to 90cm.

In the health-care sector, using Panasonic Toughbooks for everyday work really does pay off. Money and time can be saved, particularly by switching to digital data management. The Toughbooks are reliable, robust and mobile partners for the hospitals of the future.
