The Australian Healthcare Association (AHA) is the national industry body for publicly funded health organisations, agencies and services at area, regional or district levels including public hospitals, community health centres, aged and extended care facilities.
AHA’s vision is that all Australians will have access to effective health services of high quality that are appropriate and responsive to their needs and coordinated across all settings (home, residential facility or hospital). The services will be efficiently delivered by capable personnel and adequately resourced to ensure sustainability and safety.
AHA’s business includes:
- High-level advocacy and representation on behalf of the public health sector generally, and members specifically, through provision of informed and independent health policy and strategic advice to governments, health agencies, media and the community utilising the membership skill base and strategic alliances with industry groups and stakeholders;
- Analysis, review and development of health policy and practice through leading debate within the industry;
AHA also provides comprehensive membership information and support services, including:
- Australian Health Review (AHR), Australia’s principal peer reviewed journal on health policy, evaluation, economics, program development and management. AHR facilitates extensive discussion of ideas and research;
- Healthcare Brief, an industry newsletter (both electronic and paper-based) which focuses on current issues, new policy and program initiatives;
- Annual Congress, renowned in the industry for show-casing a broad range of health and related issues;
- Seminars and workshops on specific topics;
