World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2005

International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)

65th Congress of FIP 3-8 September 2005, Cairo, Egypt

Main Theme: Medicines for all – A Human Right

This year’s professional programme will examine the numerous problems associated with the production, supply, distribution and quality control of medicines throughout the world. Can we guarantee the right medicine to the right person anywhere in the world? These problems are often thought to be solely associated with developing countries, but the reality is not so. Developed countries have become increasingly conscious of such issues in their more sophisticated environments. The difficulties will be identified and current efforts to overcome them will be explored from the various types of national and international backgrounds. The final symposium will look into the near future and examine ways in which we can contribute to better access to required medicines.

Symposia:

  • Access to medicines
  • The price of medicines
  • Selection, supply and distribution of medicines
  • The worldwide problem of counterfeit medicines
  • Thinking the unthinkable

ACPE accredited programmes will give participants the opportunity to gain continuing education credits whilst attending some of the sessions of the programme of the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing education. The sessions identified in the congress programme with an ACPE logo and programme number are cosponsored by ASHP and will be available for continuing education credit for the number of hours indicated. Those attending the accredited sessions can acquire a Statement of Continuing Education Credit. A system is in place for French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and U.S. pharmacists, to acquire continuing education credits from their respective accrediting organisations, while attending FIP congress sessions.

The Section Programmes are designed to cover different areas of interest in pharmacy practice including educating pharmacists to empower patients, e-learning, human resources, pharmacy education, brain drain, patient counselling, smoking cessation, access and equity, counterfeit medicines, HIV/AIDS care, healthcare information and many more.
