ThyssenKrupp Accessibility, which was taken over in a Management Buy Out in February 2006 and was renamed EquiLift, has recently moved premises.
EquiLift is responsible for the supply, installation and maintenance of public and domestic access products. These include wheelchair platforms, stairlifts and vertical lifts.
Previously situated in Boston Road, Beaumont Leys, Leicester, where they had been based since 1986, EquiLift has now moved to two different sites. One site focuses on the sales support and customer services whilst the other focuses on logistics, stairlift inspection and reconditioning activities. Both sites are modern and open plan, improving communication and business processes.
The reason for the move was due to the changing nature of the business. EquiLift is moving away from production of lifts and focusing greater attention on installation and servicing.
The changes to the Disability Discrimination Act in 2004 means that places open to the public are under an obligation to make all areas accessible to disabled visitors or employees, including provision of wheelchair access. This has led to substantial demand for public access solutions. And with an ever ageing population, there is greater demand for domestic systems such as stairlifts. These are all product ranges that EquiLift supply.
The relocation signals a move for the future. It has acted as a springboard for the new business. It does not involve any redundancies; in fact the move gives EquiLift the ability to implement several new product initiatives which were being worked on. So growth definitely is on the cards.
The new office address is: 8, Barrington Park, Leycroft Road, Leicester, LE3 9SE. The new logistics centre address is: 15, Chiswick Road, Freemans Common, Leicester, LE2 7SX.
