Docugard® papers incorporate a silver anti-microbial agent which is safe and effective against the growth of micro-organisms such as MRSA.
Everyday objects used frequently in hospitals could be helping the spread of MRSA.
A studyby researchers at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust, presented at the Health Protection Agency’s annual conference, found charts, case notes, bins, pens and computer keyboards on an intensive care unit were contaminated with MRSA.

Patients in intensive care units are most at risk from hospital-acquired infections. Once the MRSA organism has contaminated an item, unless the item is cleaned, the superbug can survive for 80 days.
This study highlights the importance of hand hygiene in a healthcare setting. Whilst papers protected by Docugard® should not be considered as an alternative to good hygiene practices, they do provide the optimum level of due diligence currently available against the proliferation of disease-causing bacteria.
Docugard® is perfect for protecting hospital case notes and medical files against harmful bacteria. James Cropper Speciality Papers can also apply the anti-microbial technology to other paper and board products produced at the mill.
