When a challenge arises, do you sink or swim?

Yee Lee Wright is a model of what can be achieved if you swim.

At the age of fifteen, she left Hong Kong and arrived in the UK to pursue her studies. With only enough money for one month's living expenses in her pocket, the challenge was on.

Whilst studying for O and A levels and learning English, she financed her life through various jobs, such as cleaning, etc. With a constant desire to learn and improve, Yee Lee searched for a new challenge when her exams were completed. She decided on occupational therapy, but the costs were too high. Not one to be defeated, Yee Lee went through a rigorous interview with the College of Occupational Therapists and was offered a scholarship that covered her study costs.

She rose through the various Occupational Therapy grades without a hitch and went on to manage the therapeutic services of two hospitals and ten clinical departments.

Yee Lee WrightNot satisfied with her accomplishments so far, Yee Lee wanted to gain broader management and business experience, which the NHS could not offer at the time. So she decided to study for an MBA. In order to speed up the process, she took a year out and fast tracked the qualification, working on it full time. Whilst writing her dissertation, she joined Gimson Stairlifts and in 1994 headed up their customer services team.

Going from strength to strength, Yee Lee then relocated to the Netherlands. There she worked with Dutchtone, a telecommunications subsidiary, for six years. During this time she was responsible for their customer relations and helped them successfully re-brand to Orange. Whilst Yee Lee was in charge, the customer relations team grew from 100 to over 650 people and they won various awards, including a gold award for customer service.

Returning to the UK within the last two years, Yee Lee became the UK Centre Director of TRX Europe, who are an outsourcing service for Expedia Travel. In this position she was accountable for all Operational activities in both the contact centre and back office.

Recently, Yee Lee has been appointed by EquiLift, one of the UK's leading providers and installers of accessibility solutions such as vertical lifting platforms, incline platform lifts and stairlifts. Yee Lee's new position will see her take responsibility for EquiLift's Customer Relations. She says "My focus is to ensure the business delivers an excellent customer experience, ensuring our business processes are customer orientated." With her in-depth experience of high paced industries, EquiLift are counting their blessings. They are excited about the future of their customer relations with such a determined and accomplished force in the driving seat.

So, next time you have the choice to sink or swim, think about Yee Lee. She is a real life swimmer.
