Problems caused by cross-contamination of bacteria on contact surfaces in the workplace, not least in the healthcare sector and food and catering industries, is well documented.
A recent study, published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, demonstrated that dangerous bacteria could be spread by hospital staff via patients’ files. This study reinforced the critical importance of hand hygiene in a healthcare setting and highlighted the need for products with frequent hand contact to offer an extra level of protection.
Building on our technical expertise in producing high purity papers and grades for specialist industrial uses it was a natural progression for James Cropper to enter into an exclusive technological partnership with BioCote® in order to offer papers with anti-microbial properties.
Independent laboratory trials have proven that Docugard® anti-microbial papers provide a very high degree of infection control, helping to prevent the proliferation of potentially pathogenic bacteria from cross-contamination by peoples’ hands.
Docugard® business papers, filing grades and clean-room papers are both safe and effective against such dangerous agents as antibiotic-resistant MRSA (staphylococcus), listeria, E-coli and salmonella. Tests also revealed that subsequent printing (laser, ink-jet and litho) and varnishing had no detrimental effect whatsoever on the anti-microbial properties of the papers.

A variety of Docugard® protected products are available direct from selected suppliers, alternatively, Docugard® papers can be made-to-order in a specific colour, grammage weight and size to suit applications ranging from filing and stationery to medical packaging.
